FAQ

There is no error: the Genealogy Player is now integrated into each purchased library. You will only see the library you installed (e.g., Medipads, Motus 2, etc.) and not a separate Genealogy start page.

Both Windows and macOS may block installer files downloaded from the Internet. This is normal and can be solved easily by following the steps below.
🔹 On Windows
- Message: “Windows protected your PC”
- The window says:
- “Microsoft Defender SmartScreen prevented an unrecognized app from starting. Running this app might put your PC at risk.”
- Click More info.
- Then click Run anyway.
- Message in Properties window
- Right-click the installer file → Properties.
- At the bottom you may see:
- “This file came from another computer and might be blocked to help protect this computer.”
- Check Unblock and click Apply.
- Run the installer again.
🔹 On macOS
- Message: “[App name].app can’t be opened because it is from an unidentified developer.”
- Open System Settings > Privacy & Security (or System Preferences > Security & Privacy on older systems).
- You will see the text:
- “‘[App name]’ was blocked from use because it is not from an identified developer.”
- Click Open Anyway.
- Quick bypass with right-click
- Right-click (or Control-click) the installer file → Open.
- A window will ask:
- “Are you sure you want to open it? This file was downloaded from the Internet.”
- Click Open to confirm.
Note about Mac Installers
On macOS, Gatekeeper is the built-in security system that scans .pkg files before opening them. Because Cinematic Alpha installers are currently unsigned, Gatekeeper may delay the launch or show a warning that the package is from an unidentified developer. This is normal and does not affect the installation itself. If you want to avoid the delay, you can temporarily disable Gatekeeper by typing
sudo spctl –master-disable in Terminal.
However, this reduces your system’s security and allows any unsigned software to run. For this reason, it is strongly recommended to re-enable Gatekeeper immediately after installation with
sudo spctl –master-enable.

⚠️ Important Safety Note: Do not perform this operation while your DAW is open. Moving files while the plugin is active may cause extremely loud and unexpected sounds. Always close your DAW completely before starting.
On macOS
- Go to: Macintosh HD/Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/Components/
- Locate the folder of your library (e.g., Floating Ensemble.Instruments).
- Move the entire .Instruments folder to your external SSD/HDD.
- ⚠️ Do not move the .component file, otherwise the Player will not be recognized by your DAW.
- Reopen your DAW. The Player will prompt you to relocate the library.
- Select the new path of the .Instruments folder on your external drive. The Player will automatically recognize the files.
On Windows
- Go to: C:/Program Files/Common Files/VST3/Genealogy Audio/
- Locate the folder of your library (e.g., Floating Ensemble.Instruments).
- Move the entire .Instruments folder to your external SSD/HDD.
- ⚠️ Do not move the .vst3 file, otherwise the Player will not be recognized by your DAW.
- Reopen your DAW. The Player will prompt you to relocate the library.
- Select the new path of the .Instruments folder on your external drive. The Player will automatically recognize the files.

Payhip is a multivendor platform. If you use the same email address across different Payhip stores, the system will display all your purchases from those vendors in a single account view.
This does not mean there is any collaboration between the vendors, nor does it affect your Cinematic Alpha licenses and downloads. Your purchases with us remain fully independent and secure.
-
Each plugin is self-contained. If your DAW asks to relocate files, it means the plugin or its related library has been moved or removed.
- On Windows:
- VST3 plugins are located in:
- C:\Program Files\Common Files\VST3\Genealogy Audio
- If the product isn’t recognized, remove the corresponding .vst3 file manually and reinstall the library.
- On macOS:
- AU plugins are located in:
- /Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/Components
- If the product isn’t recognized, remove the .component file manually and reinstall the library.
Once you reinstall, the product will be available again in your DAW.
-
If you see this message, it means you are using an older version that still required a separate Genealogy Player.
We invite you to download the new updated versions, where the Player is integrated inside each library and no longer requires separate activation.
👉 Once you install the updated version, the error will disappear.

Sorry, we cannot refund these cases. Genealogy libraries work only with the Genealogy Player technology.
-
Unfortunately, we cannot deactivate a library remotely. For this reason, we cannot provide refunds once a product has been purchased.

This clipping is related to processor architecture. We are developing a more optimized version (including ARM support). For now, use the standard DEPTH controls instead of CC modulation for the best results.

All our archives remain active, but after one month Cinematic Alpha is not obligated to provide new download links or serial numbers. Archives have a maximum of 10 download attempts.
Refunds are not issued for temporary download issues (e.g., server outages or network problems).
To help you, we require:
- A screenshot of the error
- Your internet speed/provider details
- Your order number
This allows us to offer alternative links or, in exceptional cases, remote assistance.
-
If a payment fails, do not repeat multiple attempts as this may create duplicate charges. Responsibility lies with your bank and PayPal. Unaccounted amounts are usually refunded within 10 days.
Genealogy Audio is only responsible for production and sale of products, not for the operation of payment providers.
